Celebrate Matariki with Us – Free Native Seedling Giveaway | Puanga Matariki Festival

In honour of Matariki, the Hundertwasser Art Centre invites our community to come together in a spirit of remembrance, renewal, and care for the environment.

From 9:30am on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 July, we will be gifting free native seedlings grown from our Afforested Roof to visitors, encouraging everyone to take part in a meaningful act of planting and connection.

Only available until seedlings run out.

• Location: main entrance, Hundertwasser Art Centre
• Limit: one seedling per whānau / family

Each seedling represents more than just a plant, it’s an opportunity to honour the three key principles of Matariki:

• Remembrance – reflecting on those we have lost
• Celebration – giving thanks for the present
• Looking Forward – nurturing hope for the future

We encourage you to take your seedling home and plant it on the Matariki public holiday (10 July) as a personal or whānau ritual-marking the new year with intention and care for the whenua.

Accessibility information: wheelchair access, accessible toilets, hearing loop, accessible parking.
