DESCRIPTION:SIKA Sound Journey – ‘Between the Worlds’Something between an ancient ceremony and a movie soundtrack.\n\nSunday\, April 26\, 2026 at 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM\n\nPlease bring a yoga mat\, pillow and blanket. Be prepared to drop into a deep space.\nDoor sales will be available if there is space. Advanced booking is recommended.\n\nBetween the Worlds is an evening Sound Journey shaped by over thirty years of deep ceremonial and immersive sound practice. Blending primal rhythm\, atmospheric voice\, deep didgeridoo\, and field recordings\, the journey unfolds organically — shifting from dynamic\, embodied energy into vast\, cinematic stillness.\nThis is not passive listening. It is an experience to be entered.\nAs sound layers\, dissolve\, and reform\, participants are guided into a liminal space where time softens and inner landscapes awaken. The journey becomes a passage — one that listeners don’t just hear\, but inhabit.\nGuided by the myth of the Wandering Forest Spirit\, Between the Worlds invites a reconnection with self\, with nature\, and with something older than language. Ceremonial\, immersive\, and deeply evocative\, this is an evening to slow down\, listen deeply\, and cross into the unseen. It’s like a soundtrack that is crafted to go with your life.\n\nSika’s Sound Journeys are truly unique. They are sonic explorations that feature didgeridoos\, drums\, flutes\, voice and orchestral elements. A collection of foraged sounds from objects he has recorded in nature\, add even more textures. Many of his sounds are completely unrecognisable and abstract. Immersed in this cocoon of abstract sound\, we can find ourselves in the most surprising places in our mind. In this timeless realm\, beyond the normal limitations of rational reality\, anything is possible.\nAn epic adventure deep inside yourself.Journey to worlds within worlds on incredible sound waves.\n\nSika creates a safe space to relax deeply and connect with our inner guidance. This Sound Journey begins and ends with a short guided visualisation.\n\nThere will be two journeys with an interval. Most people choose to lie down\, so bring a yoga mat\, pillow and blanket and get really comfortable.A journal is also recommended.

SUMMARY:Noa Records Presents: Leao\, Hun Lynch + Special Guests | ONEONESIX
DESCRIPTION:We’re truly thrilled at this new opportunity to bring our musical whānau from Tāmaki Makaurau ki te nōta at ONEONESIX Whangarei\, presenting two of our most beloved live acts\, both established and emerging in the Aotearoa music scene. On April 24th\, with grace and love\, we’ll be exhibiting Pacific Psychedelic/Samoan Surf Rock band LEAO\, as well as the polymathic\, Moana cinematique Hun Lynch\, plus special guests that will be revealed in due time. \nApril 24th at ONEONESIX – doors open at 7:30PM – $20 + bf entry \nLeao \nFormed from a Pacific heart\, Leao is a Samoan musical project formed up of guitarist/vocalist David Feauai-Afaese\, bassist Navakatoa Tekela-Pule\, steel guitarist Levi Gemmell and drummer Rāhana Tito-Taylor. With a deep adoration for the Pacific musical reference and a desire to contribute contemporary musical ideas\, LEAO synthesises non-traditional tonalities with a fa’asamoa spirit\, creating what some have called ‘niu wave’ and ‘Pacific neo psychedelia” music. \nLeao has performed with musical icons from Aotearoa and beyond\, including Neil Finn and Tinariwen\, has received multiple NZ radio awards and performed a live-to-air with NTS\, and has had music appear in film on Taika Waititi’s ‘Next Goal Wins’ and Miki Magasiva’s ‘Tinā’. More immediately\, LEAO is due to perform with A24 artist Mark Williams Lewis on April 6th\, and are set to embark on a trip to the UK in May to perform at The Great Escape festival in Brighton. \nHun Lynch \nHun Lynch (Pakeha\, Fiji\, Samoa) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans music\, theatre\, film\, and writing. Hun’s sound is expansive and personal\, with tracks that fluctuate between moments of spiritual grandeur and existential fragility. \nShe has performed around Aotearoa\, opening for Serebii and WOMB at sold-out venues as well as playing Roundhead’s Infinity Sessions supporting LEAO and Neil Finn. Her music has aired on NTS and 95bFM and featured across theatre\, dance\, and screen. Her live performance attempts to touch the void of an untouchable feeling\, often meditating on the ephemeral muddiness of connecting to wairua in the wake of religion. \nApril 24th at ONEONESIX – doors open at 7:30PM – $20 entry

SUMMARY:You\, Me\, Everybody | ONEONESIX
DESCRIPTION:Aotearoa’s bluegrass explorers\, You\, Me\, Everybody\, bring their new album\, Midnight to OneOneSix.\n\nRooted in tradition but unafraid to innovate\, the band blends virtuosic musicianship with gracious arrangements to create a progressive acoustic sound that reaches well beyond classic Americana. Their live shows offer plenty of toe-tapping energy\, yet it’s their creative fearlessness\, soaring dynamics and heartfelt storytelling that truly set them apart.\n\nThe band’s new album\, Midnight—recorded in Wellington with Nashville-based producer Rachel Baiman and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Sean Sullivan—marks a bold evolution in their sound. Exploring the space between endings and beginnings\, the record pairs emotional depth with dynamic\, contemporary acoustic textures. With singles arriving throughout 2025\, You\, Me\, Everybody now support the release of the album with a national tour of Aotearoa.\n\n“This album moves & breathes in all the right places” – Jenny Mitchell\n\n“Bluegrass can be exhilarating. It can also be rigidly predictable. On ‘Midnight\,’ the Everybody’s go for the former with a lively mix of finely-tuned\, unpredictable arrangements” – Cameron Bennett\n\n\n\n\nStay tuned to more of Beagles favourite local events here

SUMMARY:Lou'ana Disco Witch Album Release Show
DESCRIPTION:NZ’s ‘Queen of Disco’\, Lou’ana\, reveals magnetic and mystical album DISCO WITCH and New Zealand tour \nAotearoa’s very own Queen of Disco\, Lou’ana\, has today released her highly-anticipated sophomore album\, aptly titled DISCO WITCH\, alongside a corresponding New Zealand tour for March 2026 to celebrate. \nRooted in nu-disco\, soul\, and funk\, Lou’ana weaves nostalgic grooves with her own stories\, creating music that moves through dance\, liberation\, and personal healing. \nEarlier this year\, Lou’ana revealed ‘side b’ of the album\, by way of the five-track SO BELOW EP. Now she completes the full picture with ‘side a’\, AS ABOVE. \nCombined\, both sides make up the 10-track album\, DISCO WITCH; the contrast between the two\, showing the care and thoughtfulness behind the songwriting and production. Every arrangement\, sound\, and lyric has been shaped with intention\, creating a body of work that feels immersive\, soulful\, and cinematic while staying true to the essence of Lou’ana’s magnetic and mystical DISCO WITCH world. \n“It takes the listener on a journey through light and shadow; heart and groove\, with each song revealing a different layer of transformation and self-expression\,” says Lou’ana. \nDISCO WITCH includes fan favourite tracks like ‘Disco Coven’\, ‘My World’ and ‘Heartbeat’\, as well as the title track\, which serves as the album’s focus single. \nAbout Lou’ana:\nLou’ana’s debut album MOONLIGHT MADNESS spawned the hits ‘Move Along’ and ‘Feel This’ and earned her the award for ‘Best Pacific Female Artist’ at the 2021 Pacific Music Awards. The album also reached #18 on the NZ Top 20 Album Chart. \nLou’ana has performed at many of the country’s largest festivals\, including Nostalgia\,\, Newtown Festival\, NZ Spirit Festival\, CubaDupa\, Splore and Nest Fest. She recently toured Australia\, and has also opened for international names such as Gladys Knight and Teddy Swims.

SUMMARY:Speed is Emotional
DESCRIPTION:Speed is Emotional theatre at ONEONESIX \nADHD – it’s so hot right now! Pōneke’s creative powerhouse Jo Randerson (ONZM) unpacks their diagnosis\, neurodivergent parenting\, sad songs\, men taking their time\, and so much more in this highly lauded “funny as hell” theatre extravaganza. This incredible mahi is so much more than a performance – it’s a revelation. \nJo Randerson has a brain that never stops and a fountain of restless energy fuelling their fiercely funny artistic voice. Who knew?! that this fountain was fed by something they had diagnosed in their 40s alongside their son: ADHD. \nJo has always lived life at high voltage. SUMMARY:Fungi Film Fest Whangārei
DESCRIPTION:Fungi Film Fest Whangārei (FFFWh) is our very own screening of the world’s only film festival dedicated to the beauty\, otherworldliness\, and human influences of mushrooms\, lichens\, and micro fungi. Please join us for our second annual screening event at ONEONESIX! \nEach year brings a different mix of films\, with this year’s program hosting 14 short films from 8 countries at about 125 minutes of run time. Our screening will also include a bonus screening of a local submission which didn’t quite make the cut for the official film set. The films are all ages\, but the recommended age for the films is 10 to 100. \nOur delightful intermission will offer you tasty mushroom treats and the opportunity to meet other fungus fans! \nThis year\, we’re also preceding the ticketed screening event with an all ages interactive forest arts event at the same location\, 1-4pm. This portion is supported by Creative Communities and is offered free to the community with no ticket necessary\, and will include creative activities such as seed bombs\, paper snails\, stop motion film experimentation\, coloring in\, and moldable plastic sculpting. All ages welcome\, humans aged 6 to adult will likely get the most out of it.
