SUMMARY:Quarry Ceramics Awards 2026
DESCRIPTION:Quarry Ceramics Awards 2026 \n\nAwards & Opening night: Friday 10th April 2026\, 5pm\, Yvonne Rust Gallery\nExhibition open: 10th April – 2nd May 2026Open Hours – Mon – Sat 9.30am – 4.30pm\n\nA Quick History of the Quarry Ceramics Awards\nCeramics awards have been part of Northland’s art scene for over 20 years. For the first 15 years\, the event ran as the Northland Potters Award\, founded by Susie Leigh Rogers in partnership with New Zealand Potters to celebrate local ceramic artists. It was a $1000 acquisitive award sponsored by the Whangārei District Council\, whose collection can still be viewed at Forum North and Botanica Gardens.\nIn 2018\, the Quarry Arts Centre took over the awards\, expanding them into a national event called the Open Ceramics Award\, with the same top prize. In 2022\, it became the Quarry Ceramics Awards\, adding more categories and increasing the prize pool.\n\nPoster – 2024 QCA Premier Award winner Rom Marinkovich (instagram) @fruitfire_ceramics\n\nIf you’re working on a submission to the QCA\, feel free to tag us on Facebook or @quarryarts on Instagram.\n\n\n\n\nStay tuned to more of Beagles favourite local events here

SUMMARY:Touchstones | Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Yvonne Rust Gallery to celebrate the opening of Touchstones exhibition; a collection of ceramic arts by a collective of local women artists.\n\nTouchstones explores how creativity persists amid the distractions of daily life\, particularly the invisible labour and mental load often carried by women. Each piece acts as a touchstone: evidence of a moment carved out of everyday chaos\, and a testament to commitment and persistence.\nThis exhibition invites viewers into the quiet but powerful act of showing up: to make\, to fire\, to connect\, and to keep creating even when life pulls us in every direction.\nParticipating artists: Linette van Greunen\, Akke Tiemersma\, Amber Brownlie\, Anabelle Lewis\, Anna Parke\, Briar Monro\, Caitlin Osborne\, Heath Bell\, Jeffie Mulder\, Maria Eugenia\, Miriam Gavin\, and Ros May.\nOpening nightWhere: Yvonne Rust Gallery\, Quarry Arts Centre\, 5-7pm\nExhibition: 15th – 29th May 2026Open times: Mon – Sat 9.30am – 4.30pm
